Red Accion is an association of microfinance institutions (MFIs) created in Latin America to build and foster financial inclusion. With a focus on investment, governance and the integration of new technologies, it pursues social goals through business means that create financially viable and sustainable microfinance institutions.
Founded in 1983 as the world’s first international network of MFIs, Red Accion today boasts some of the world’s best microfinance institutions, working together to strengthen one another and the industry as a whole. Red Accion serves as a collective industry voice; shares experiences and best-practices; and builds strong and effective industry alliances. It currently comprises 22 organizations spanning 16 countries, which today serve more than 4 million clients in Latin America with financial products and services – small, working-capital loans, savings, insurance, remittances, housing, education, and business and financial training.
